When Am I Ever Going to Use This?

Teaching Tips to Survive & Thrive in the High School
Classroom
|
Education is on the front burner with bullying, NCLB,
and disconnected students. Everyone wants to see
change, especially our students who in a survey quoted
boredom as their biggest frustration. Struggling to
find the purpose for what they’re learning, stuck in old
schools with outdated teaching methods, students are
dropping out at higher rates and graduating without the
skills society needs.
The
quickest vehicle for change is the classroom teacher.
This book shares 75 practical tips that any teacher can
duplicate based on the often humorous journey
experienced by one teacher who took an unusual path and
created a style that changed the lives of her students
and her entire school.

"How to you define extra-ordinary? I have been
honored to observe Marianne teach her
Strategies for
Success program to a group of 8th graders. She
quickly developed a relationship with them and made them
feel comfortable. Marianne has the innate ability
to make learning fun and easy. Her positive
attitude and techniques made the class a pleasure for
students and teacher. She motivated the students
to want to learn more."
